Radial StageBug SB-2 1-Channel Passive Instrument Direct Box

Great size, great work, worth every penny

Radial will tell you that the JDI is their premium direct boxes, and rightfully so. The Jensen transformers are the industry standard for use in direct boxes. But do you really need that quality for your gigs? I play in a cover band and have the need for numerous di boxes for pianos/ electric drum pads/ and bass and I just can't believe that the audience has any idea or interest in the fact that we're not using the JDI's. At the end of the day: these are perfectly sufficient. They help clean up the line noise and I'm very pleased them.

I bought this for use with a bass preamp pedal that didn't have a built-in DI. I ended up selling the preamp pedal so I no longer needed the SB-2 and returned it. It's a nice DI, handled bass just fine, and seemed transparent in doing so. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up an SB-2 in the future should I need a small, great sounding, DI.

The size is perfect for my pedalboard. Clean and compact. This box is the most durable object on my board. Plug and play.

Sits in my synth rack and solves its ground him issues. I own several other Radial products and the quality of this DI is on par with the rest.

First impressions: I’m using this “off label” to send my stereo steel pan pickups to my mixer, and it couldn’t have been easier to setup. Sound quality is clean, undistorted. Quality of materials is high, very solid feel to it. Lightweight.I haven’t used it live yet - just in a practice session. I have also not had opportunity (or need) to use the ground lift. Based on the initial quality, I don’t anticipate problems.
