The Hardware is the Easy Part

I got this to access work websites from home on my personal laptop.The hardware, card reader, itself is the easy part. The software, to include the drivers and certs is another story.You will have to get those from your organization to get this to be functional.Don't give up.Seriously, it's totally worth it once you get it working. Just velcro it to the back of your monitor lid and you're good to go!

TAA compliant as required by DoD

This is replacement for popular model on amazon that is NOT TAA compliant. This one works great. Beware of others. I tried to write negative review of the non-TAA compliant reader (not this one!) but amazon rejected because I provided a link to the approved DoD list of card readers and details of the security concerns.

The IOGEAR USB Smart Card Access (CAC) Reader works perfectly! Need it to CAC into federal government sites to do needed work and it works just like it's supposed to.

keep in mind if you run into any problems like myself for the windows configuration

The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is, because it was not plug and play on my Mac or widows 7. The Mac was a headache and even after following multiple links I could not figure out how to make it compatible ( problems with keychain access ). Windows 7 wasn't the easiest at first either. After getting it accessible, the product worked perfectly for what I needed ( access to military portals). keep in mind if you run into any problems like myself for the windows configuration.Under internet options on your tool bar.- Make sure the web link is trusted and switched to compatibility view for the website your are accessing before downloading the 32, 62 mb link.
