Rio Beach Deluxe 6ft Sun Protection Beach Umbrella with Tilt

Awful. Simply awful. Let me list the ways....1. No carry bag. So you are stuck with the pole and the umbrella as separate units. Very annoying, and very inconvenient for the walks to the beach.2. The umbrella doesn't have the gussets to let air through. So even a breezy day on the beach, you can't use this.3. The materials are CHEAP. I know you get what you pay for, but come on.Would not recommend this to anyone.

We’ve had this umbrella (color blue #2) for over a month now for the kids’ sandbox. It’s blown into the rose bushes, out into the yard, into the pool where it laid at the bottom submerged completely in water for a day, then fished out... and it’s still like new (unlike the previous two wooden umbrellas we had). For this, it gets 5 stars! I’ve since put it in an umbrella stand and it stays put now.

I purchased this solely to use at the beach and it worked wonderfully! It's very important to get an umbrella with vents at the top so the beach winds can flow through the umbrella and not whisk it away. There were many other people on the beach with umbrellas (memorial day weekend) and this one held up perfectly against the beach winds. There were times I was nervous because I was seeing the other umbrellas bend and blow over. This one is very sturdy and held up very well. I did use a sand anchor - which I highly recommend. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I would like it to come with a better carrying case. The one it comes with is the original plastic bag. It has a semi-cheap strap on it and it just makes me nervous that one day it will break.Otherwise - GREAT UMBRELLA!!

I've had a couple of Rio's and they seem to last long enough for the price. We go to the beach so much I only expect a couple of seasons which is what I got out of my last Rio. This one seems much higher quality than my last Rio. The pole is thicker and the things that hold the fabric up are better and the fabric is higher quality. It is harder to get in the sand than than my last one because the pole is so thick, we just dig a hole and bury it.

The umbrella is beautifully bright colors, and has a spike (but not so pointy it's dangerous) at the end of the pole for putting it in the sand. It opens up just like a rain umbrella. At first I couldn't figure out how it tilted, but it actually does tilt with a mechanism right at the top! It's just a push button that allows the joint to move, so there are only two positions but that's enough for me. The mechanisms for the tilt and for holding up the umbrella are made of plastic (at least on the outside) so while that's cool right now when it's new, and it looks very nice because everything on the pole is white, I imagine that could easily deteriorate within a couple years if left outside. But if you're really going to use it a lot, how long do you expect it to last anyway? The size is nice - it's a smaller canopy and fits nicely on my balcony. There's a top circle of fabric separate from the rest of the umbrella so that it has an air vent, which will help prevent it from falling over (one can hope). It even came in a plastic case with a handle so you can carry it to the beach if you like. Not sure the plastic case would last all that long with normal portable use, but it's nice for now. Overall, I think this was a good bargain.

I attach these to the rails on my pool for some shade. Had some from Five Below which are a great portable umbrella for beach, lake, pool. These are bigger with heavier canvas and adjustable.

Wow! This is way more than I was expecting! Last year I bought some cheap ones that had plastic tiki grass on them and that's what I was expecting. These are very sturdy (I didn't set it up but I did stand out on the deck with it open while holding it in about 17 mph sustained winds) and well built. There is an air vent at the top and the locking mechanism (which worried me when I saw it because the last umbrella I had looked like this) will work on these ones, the pole is beveled to fit into the bottom one without being able to go in too far! It even all folds up and fits in a clear plastic carry bag with shoulder strap! I will be buying more.

This did so good this weekend. It held up very nicely. We did buy a sand anchor for it and I do recommend that. The blue multicolor is very pretty and vibrant too, easy to spot on the beach.

Works as advertised. I didn't buy the sand anchor and I regret it. It was a windy day on the beach and the umbrella did not stay up for very long before I had to take it down for fear of it flying away and impaling someone. Good height, good size, tilt works great. Quality seems good too! Hope to use it a few more times this summer.

Solid construction, holds up well in strong winds. It comes with a cheap plastic carry case, my only complaint.

Good quality. Made in metal. Heavy but will resist to wind. It does not come with anchor. That’s the bad side. Must buy a separated anchor.

Tested it out during our latest heat waves here in the Maritimes. You can literally feel the heat of the rays NOT reaching your body. Great buy
