Impressive grip for XC tread
My Transition Spur came equipped with a Maxxis Dissector for the front tire and a Maxxis Rekon for the rear. I had an XC race planned so I decided to put the Rekon up front and purchase this Rekon Race for the rear. I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of grip provided by the Rekon Race. To me, it feels almost as grippy as the Rekon while being noticeably faster rolling.

Can't go wrong with Maxxis.
Maxxis is a well known name in the bike tire industry. They have quite a large selection of tires, and this new Rekon is pretty awesome. I got it pretty much for trail riding (single track and rails-to-trails) and the low rolling resistance is perfect for this. I got the 120 tpi which is a lighter sidewall, as the type of riding I do isn't super demanding, and tire weight is unnecessary. It's actually a nice go-between if you're torn between running street / slick tires on your MTB and giving up too much trail performance and running huge knobbies, which is terrible on the street (and even hard pack trails). The knob profile is low enough that they aren't "squirrely" at speed on pavement, but still provides enough grip that the trail isn't like glass, like with pure street tires. In short, I really like this new offering from Maxxis. It's not the first tire from Maxxis I've ran, and it certainly won't be the last.
