Q: Hi is the inner base 11 inches across or is that the measurement including the outer edge of the tray.

The 11 inches is to the outer rim, consequently it is nearer to 10 inches at its base

Hi Irene,Yes, a moderatly hot plate (for example, like a hot meal on a plate) is no problem, though I wouldn't put anything straight out of an oven onto one of these trays.Also, my experiance is that the excellent non slip tray surface is not particularly suited to very hot dishwasher programmes. I put one in a hot dishwasher once and the atractive jet black surface slightly discoloured. Actually, these wash very well by hand with normal washing up liquid so I wish I hadn't put one in a dishwasher.All in all they are very good trays and I'd recommend them.CK

A nail brush under a running tap with a bit of washing up liquid. You could risk the dishwasher but keep the temperature low in case the adhesive softens and the rubberised surface comes away. hope this helps.
