The lamp arrived on time and well packed. The cardboard packaging has adequate internal bracing and supported the lamp from shipping damage. I purchased the black model. It is high gloss black. Like a piano or an expensive black car. A very high end finish.No assembly is required. All that's needed is to remove the plastic finish protection and plug in the power supply. There are touch sensors on the base panel that control the lamp on/off, color, and brightness settings. I found one button that controls a feature that I didn't know about. This 'clock-icon' button controls a one-hour timer. I don't know that I would use it, but I guess in some instances it could come in handy. If you're AR and worried about having to clean fingerprints off the control panel, it takes a VERY light touch to activate the sensors. Unless you have very oily or grimy hands, it's not a big issue.The description said that the light color is adjustable. I was wondering how this could be achieved. There are three rows of LEDs. The two outside rows are the high frequency Kelvin (bluish white) and the middle row is the low frequency (yellowish white). For the reading, study, and relaxation color modes, both the outside and middle rows are on. For the bedtime mode, only the middle row. There are five different brightness levels for each mode. The Study mode at full brightness is intsnse and more than I'm able to work with (too bright and too cool). I have to turn it down.The LEDs have a translucent plastic diffuser on the the light output side that soften the light and protect the LEDs from damage and dirt. The hinges that allow the arm of the lamp to articulate are a little stiff, but I prefer that over too loose and the arm not staying in the position that's needed.The USB port is a little difficult to access because it's on the back of the lamp base, but I like it because it's right next to the power cord port. They are both out of sight from the sitting side of the desk. It presents a very clean look. Your USB cord will probably remain plugged in all the time anyway. If you need to remove it daily, this may prove to be an issue.Clear, understandable Instructions are included. Everything you need to know are on two sides of an 8-1/2 x 11 paper. VERY SIMPLE. VERY ELEGANT. I saw other LED lamps that cost less, but I liked the design lines of the Satechi and decided to spend a little more. I'm very happy with the purchase and I would recommend this product.

Have been using this desk lamp for about six months now and am very pleased with it. It is very convenient and versatile as it can be used as a low light source beside a computer monitor or as a task lamp for projects on your desk. Very nice design and great touch controls. I quickly became accustomed to having it on my desk and have no problems with it. I find many people to be awfully picky in the reviews here. Anything shiny black will show dust but a quick wipe and it is clean again. People even complain about the dim led that indicates the lamp is plugged in. I personally find it very convenient when I walk into my dark office and a quick tap on the red led and I have light. It would have been desirable for the head to twist but I have found an easy placement in that the long axis is towards my face and tilted down a bit. A small adjustment that is more than compensated for by the overall design and execution of the lamp. I deducted a star because it is made of plastic and although is solid enough, I doubt that it could take any inadvertent abuse. Very handy and worth the price.

This is a great lamp for my desk at work.I like to keep the environment more dimly lit with several lamps rather than rely on fluorescent ceiling lamps. When I saw the adjustable light temperature level and dimming, all controlled by touch, I had to have it.Most of the time I keep the lamp in "Relaxation Mode" as it's a nice warm but bright light that you don't expect from LED illumination, but if I have to focus on some paper work it's a quick press of a finger away from a brighter, whiter, light.The few quibbles I have with this are as follows:- I wish the lamp head was able to rotate as well as tilt.- The lamp head doesn't tilt up more than 140 degrees, which means you can't lower the lamp down towards the desk while keeping the head parallel to the surface. You end up with the lamp pointing backwards further.- I wish the USB charger had more power so I could charge an iPhone or iPad faster, as it is it puts out less than the normal 1-amp adapters that come with the phones.

I had never had an LED desk lamp and frankly didn't know what to look for during the two hours of online shopping. I knew I wanted one with numerous light settings and a style that didn't clash with my old Queen Anne desk. I also didn't want to spend more than $100. The search narrowed down to the Satechi because it was well-made, weighed enough not to topple over, was attractive and I can adjust the light from dim to very bright. I can also leave on the nightlight feature and feel comfortable that I'm not wasting as much energy as a conventional bulb would. It also has a timer that will turn off the light. And the USB port on the back is a must in this day and age. There are similar lights that are more expensive but I don't feel you're getting that much more.

A good desk or bedside lamp. The light itself is very adjustable. If I could make one improvement on the lamp, it would be to have the side shaded so the light is reflected down onto what you are reading, rather than to the side. I have the lamp on my bedside table and because it is rather tall and there is nothing to block the light on the side, it can be rather bright on side of the lamp when the light is bright enough to read, if the person next to you in bed is trying to sleep while you are reading.Overall, a very good quality unit and it should save tremendously on energy cost. I also like the fact that the LED lamp does not generate heat like an incandescent or halogen bulb does.

Fantastic desk lamp... Excellent range of light levels; simple, straightforward controls; clean and elegant design; highly adjustable positioning... Works like a charm...Delivery was prompt and communication from Satechi was extremely professional and well-timed.Highly recommended.

Received the product on 14-1-2015. Delivery was fast. Product exactly as described. It looks good and works well now. This lighting is much better than the one I had before. Will update if there is any change.
