I will now be using the rest to bring out the kitchen scraps and then dumping the bag itself in the garbage.
I purchased these bags as an easier and cleaner way to bring our kitchen compostable scraps to our outside composter. Biggest draw was the fact that the description says they are compostable in a backyard setting. I've been using these since November and have yet to see one of the bags break down in my composter. The bag itself clearly states that it is compostable in industrial facilities with no mention of backyard setting. I will now be using the rest to bring out the kitchen scraps and then dumping the bag itself in the garbage.

My third order
This will be my third order for this product as they work well in our situation. I use them to line my kitchen compost bin and we then carry the bin to the compost and dump the contents. If the kitchen scraps are not too liquid, we can take just the bag to the compost and bring the bag back to the house. We dispose of the bags in the regular garbage because we understand that these just won't break down fast enough in a household compost setting. We wanted sturdier bags than those that are made to compost in the home garden setting. These work fine for us and we know that they will at least break down in the landfill. A compromise for sure, but it works for us as our garden and compost are some distance from the house and this gets the compost to the bin without the bag breaking down prematurely.

WARNING. No longer a "Huge improvement"
Update in April, 2021My original order made in 2019 was ranning out so I reordered in December 2020 and started using bags from the new order in February. These are NOT the same bags! They are (as I discovered when I read the fine print) .5mm thinner and are much more likely to tear. Every bag has had holes in it by the end of a week, and one of them fell totally apart as I was trying to move it outside.I can't imagine why they changed, but they did. The two paragraphs following this are no longer true at all.Update: I've been using these for seven months now, and not one has torn. I put wet garbage in them, and the one I just filled weighed eight pounds. I did not have to support it on the bottom..Here's all you need to know: a single bag will take a full load of moist compostables without tearing when you lift it out of its container to throw it away. Unlike any of its predecessors.

Good quality and home compostable.
We had some older ones that were past their prime and disintegrating. These are strong and easy to work with. The box also specifies that they are compostable not just in municipal facilities, but also in home composting bins. That is a big plus in favor of this brand over some others.Don't order in too big a quantity though as they need to be used within a year of ordering. I guess they begin to break down so after a year, they would be like the older ones that tore when we tied to use them. The contents of the box will last for a while in home compost buckets so multiple box orders are not treally needed.

Much better than any other brand of compostable bag I have ...
Much better than any other brand of compostable bag I have tried. These really seem to hold up long enough to get my kitchen compost to the bin outside. Previous brands would begin disintegrating before I got to that point.

Need to empty every day or else it’s gross.
These are great for putting in my table top compost catcher. But if you leave it on your counter for a couple days then the bag starts to break down and it creates a juicy puddle inside. I don’t like that at all. They also don’t seem to break down in my compost bin very well. They leave a strange gooey blob behind.

These fit perfectly in my container, they just start to leak after a bit
I don't totally fault them for that though. Our compost is only picked up weekly so the food scraps I have in there start to decompose and get juicy in that time period. These bags are designed to be eco friendly and break down so it isn't comparable to a heft bag with all it's petroleum and adhesive wonder. My solution is when I'm emptying the compost bin I just put the bag of scraps into another compost bag (double bag it) and then take that out to my curbside bin. Bit much? Yeah, but I don't want to drip coffee grounds and banana pee all through my apartment.Biodegradable bags are flimsy to begin with so you gotta expect that. Overall I think these are quality and a good value, but for my application I'm using two at a time.

They start to disintegrate after a few days
I bought these because it's been hard to get to the store with the pandemic and all, and these were a convenient option. If you're the kind of person who empties their kitchen compost pale every day or two, these will probably work great for you. If, like me, you're the kind who waits until the end of the week, I wouldn't recommend them because they start to disintegrate and fall apart after a few days in the bin, so when you go to remove the full bag it falls apart and leaves you with compost scraps all over the floor. I'm going to try double bagging and see if it helps, but I'll probably go back to the Kroger brand as soon as it's safe to go to the store again.
