After a month, seems like a good purchase
I'm giving this unit a 5, but I have only had it for a few weeks, so time will tell. Positives: it really draws the moisture out of the air. We have a 90% finished basement, and it's been very wet out for most of the month. This unit has kept the humidity at the 40% mark I selected. Despite what some reviews have said, this unit it not noisy. Yes, it has a hum, but it is not distracting. I'm toying with the idea of putting in the unfinished part of the basement and leaving the door open to it for two reasons: to better keep the entire basement dry, and be allowed to run the hose to the basement drain. Negatives: it's an unusual design with the unit sitting on top of the "bucket." One can set the dehumidifier to fill 1/4. 1/2, 3/4 or full. If you let it fill, you'll have a very heavy bucket to empty. (My wife keeps a sauce pan nearby to empty the bucket to a level she can lift and pour out.) I have not messed much with the app, but I suppose it could be helpful. The unit seems well constructed and the set up documentation and video are helpful.

Works well, quiet and drains constantly into the floor drain- a winner!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:After two GE dehumidifiers both died within 6 months I started researching new devices that did Not have a pump and instead offered gravity drainage. The Cube is versatile and easy to set up- BUT VERY HEAVY! It arrives in a small box and well packed but it’s significant weight for older or infirm people. Has a great carry handle on both the powered unit and the bucket as well as optional casters (included) to roll the device around on its bucket. It has multiple options for use: 1: bucket mode where the water collects in the bottom bucket to be emptied, bucketless mode (a special mode to just run the power unit in a small space and drain straight into a drain or sink, and my chosen mode: the constant drainage, using the bucket for height but keeping the hose connected to the floor drain below. For me it keeps the unit above to allow gravity to do its job. I’ve had the dehumidifier for 24 hours now and the basement humidity is already 10% below what 2 GE units could do so I’m impressed. The unit is quiet (sounds like a fan) and has no smell to it, size is slightly more square than previous units but again very heavy. There is not a pump in this unit- so this review only covers the gravity draining dehumidifier. So far so good- really like the product, the big win will be if it lasts longer than 2-3 month unlike my other GE models.

This new style has not been an improvement upon design for me
just the thing I was trying not to have happen happened...which is worse than moisture condensation... this unit overflowed on me and made a 3 foot by 3 foot wet spot in my wall to wall carpet...I wish i wold have not trusted it and put a mason pan underneath it just for safety sake and so I could quickly see that the unit was leaking into the pan and not onto my carpet and the floor under neath the carpet.... (I looked at this and thought "its mold city now" better get the wet vac and suck as much as I can up) the bucket has a float mechanism that has cheap plastic clips which popped out and caused the float not to operate correctly... it has 3 holes on the side of the bucket that will allow for overflow out of the bucket before the water can back up into the electrical and mechanical part of the unit... there is no real way to tell if the float is working until it shuts off... the even with a flash light you can not really tell what the water level is because the sight glass is translucent. there are a few more things like the arrows that mark which way the unit fits into the collection bucket and they are not on top and not easy to see when you have the heavy unit in your hand so I had to use a marker and mark the bucket and the unit with arrows on the top and on the side that you can really see.... this might make it not look as nice but sure helps when you have that heavy cube in your hand and are holding it and placing it back into the bucket after manually draining....there are a few more things to consider that were troublesome to me about the unit so I will update... I wish i would have just bought one that has the tank and the float in it which is on the side I have used right now I am checking out an Insignia 450 sqft with auto shut off that has the kind of tank and auto shut off which is common with most and will not accidentally flood the floor becuse there are no overflow holes and mechanisms that snap in just a float that is not as easy to become stuck or not functinal becuase this is the old design.... here is the model number I am checking out....
