Accidental Purchase Became a Pleasant Surprise
I'd bought the lumpfish caviar from the same company several months before and wanted to buy it again, but the price seemed more expensive, so while searching for a better price, chanced upon this. Truth be told, I thought it was also the lumpfish caviar and that I'd scored, and didn't even notice it was the seaweed one until it came time to use it! I had no idea what to expect and reading reviews online had such mixed reviews. There's a specific side dish I use it for, and I have to share it all with you, because it's so good and simple to make! Tater tots (I recently discovered Whole Foods organic ones, but regular ol' tater tots is just as good for this dish) topped with a dollop of creme fraiche, chopped chives or scallions and a massive spoonful (or more!) of the caviar. I made it with the seaweed caviar, and I kid you not, it turned out to be even better! Because it doesn't have the "fishy" element, it actually worked with the richness of the tater tots and creme fraiche beautifully -- everyone at the table went in full of doubt and came out a believer.I guess it depends on what you are looking for, and if you want to use this purely as one would with a traditional caviar, the taste is lacking for sure. The texture is more "crunchy" and firm, and you're just not going to get that rich salty flavor of traditional caviar. But with that understanding, I think this is a wonderful alternative!

Personal taste
I’ve never tasted caviar so just bought out of curiosity. I’m happy both with the flavor, not too salty, and the texture.I tried it on my California roll sushi, it was good. Obviously this is strictly dependent on each persons taste. I love kelp taste so that likely helped in my case. For the price, it’s worth an open minded try.

Flavor?
I was not expecting the flavor of even cheap caviar. Bit I was expecting flavor, of any kind. It has none, of any kind.I give it a ten for look and feel. A zero on flavor. Flavor trumps look and feel. Bland, bland, bland. Blah.

Just Okay
We like some of the other types of caviar they sell. The flavor on thisone was disappointing.

Good flavor. Good texture
Disregard the extremes of the reviews here. It does not taste like vinegar. It does not taste like expensive caviar either. I have bought every brand of vegetarian/vegan caviar. This is a solid 8 in terms of flavor vs the real deal. The vegan/vegetarian ones that are the best of the best are an 8.2 - but aren't really usually worth the cost.To put it concretely. I buy this one more often than not compared to the others. To make it worth it, I suggest using MIyoko's cultured vegan butter, and the bestlfresh local bread you can buy. Fresh bread and fresh butter are a requirement.

Great product. Very similar to real caviar
Definitely recommend. I used to love real caviar, so this is a great veg sub.

Excellent taste and texture for ersatz caviar
Excellent taste and texture for ersatz caviar. It is always packed carefully though I would probably feel more comfortable ordering it during cold weather.
