If you've ever broken a screw...
I purchased this product some time ago and have just now used it. I was waiting until I’d run out of my current stock of beeswax. Some people have complained that it really does not do all that much to make screws easier to install, and I think those people are correct. But that is not why I use it.I took the first of five years of woodworking classes at a junior college in 1994. At that time they told us that using beeswax will prevent screws from breaking. By then I had several times experienced the pain of breaking a screw and having to find some way to extract it. That typically happens when you’re installing a hinge, so not only do you have a broken screw in the hole, you then have all kinds of problems. Can you get it out? Maybe. How big will the hole be then? Will it still hold a screw? Probably not. What then? Will the hinge work as well in the next position? And will you break yet another screw? That probably sounds like nonsense, but if you’ve ever broken a screw in those circumstances, that is exactly what you go through. And it’s not fun. So when my instructors said use beeswax, I did.I bought a little container called “BeeZWax.” I think it had an ounce of wax in it. That company is long since out of business, and I have just now used up the last of the beeswax in that original container. I bought it in 1995, if memory serves. And in all those years I have not broken a single screw. This container from FastCap looks to hold about twice as much beeswax as I originally purchased. And I got two! So I’m set for the rest of my life.I do like this product better than the one I used previously because it’s soft enough that I can dip the screws, as it shows in the picture. All you need is a little dab on the tip of the screw, but the old beeswax was more solid, so I had to work it into the screw each time.We live in an age where people see only price. So some will say that candles or toilet seat rings, or I don’t know what all will be much cheaper source of wax. And they’re right. They will. But I cannot say that the thought of hauling out a wax toilet seat ring whenever I want to set a screw is all that appealing to me! This has the beauty of being all-contained. No muss, no fuss, no broken screws. Gotta love it!

Luxury purchase, IMO
I saw this on YouTube. It does work but is relatively expensive for what it is , IMO. If you have the desire give it a shot. If not, buy a bar of soap.

If you need this, you definitely need this.
Screw wax makes a very specific problem go away and if you have that problem, this is the best solution to it. Yes you can use just regular bee's wax, but this applies much more easily and lasts forever. You don't need to use more than a very thin smear. I apply it with a que-tip thats just a little "wet" with wax and it does the trick perfectly (putting threaded inserts in medium hard woods).

drilling? you need this!
I'm not a woodworker, but I can tell you that this makes drilling into hardwoods far easier than without it. drilling with it is like butter. I even tried it on plastic block and it makes all the difference. it can get a bit messy, so keep it clean so it doesn't get all over your workspace.

I love this stuff!!!
Screw heads occasionally strip easily, even with a pilot hole. And it seems those prepackaged screws included in purchases (for example, a ladder hanger I recently installed) are even more prone to stripping.I saw screw wax used on a DIY YouTube channel and figured I would give it a shot. Frankly, I’m sold on this stuff. So much so I ordered more to keep on hand.

Great to have...
why is this so hard to find in B&M stores now? It is still working well and in good condition after being stored all this time.
