Although I already own a SpacePilot, I bought this mouse for both Archviz & gaming, it's okay for one but excels at the other...
**I bought this mouse over a year ago, so I have had a lot of time to test this mouse for CAD and Gaming. I have tried the device with a lot of games and software, but found 2 programs that worked flawlessly to both enhance it's capability and usability for both CAD & Gaming. Those are Pinnacle Game Profiler and Voice Attack. My review is with those two programs in mind)**For CAD, in comparison to the SpacePilot Pro, I found the 3DM-pro lacked a few things that made the SPP great. I will not go too far in depth, as others have already done so, but you CANNOT use all of the axis simultaneously like the SpacePilot Pro. This makes a profound difference in the way you move around in 3d space, and it's quite noticeable (especially if you already own or have used a 3d Connexion product). The good thing is that the software is easy to understand after a small amount of trial and error, so configuring the device is easy. You can also create your own profile if your software is not in the software list. The one thing I will suggest to anyone that buys this mouse is to go ahead and buy Pinnacle Profiler as well. The combination of the 2 make the ability of this mouse almost limitless. Pinnacle Profiler is under 10 bucks, but it's well worth it... which brings me to my next point, Gaming...For GAMING, this mouse is incredible for racing and flying. You can tilt the mouse forward as a gas pedal or throttle up, or tilt back for the opposite. I, too, use this mouse for Star Citizen, but I also play Elite Dangerous and various other racing games. Let me tell you, for those games, combined with Pinnacle Profiler (to precisely configure buttons to do more than what's possible with the native software) and Voice Attack (to make up for the lack of extra buttons on the mouse itself), this mouse is as good as it gets for space sims if you do not have a HOTAS setup. It allows you to have the 'aim' of a mouse and the 'control & feel' of a throttle at the same time. Just incredible. I have not even covered the analog stick yet. This should have been on gaming mice a long time ago. You can literally control an FPS game with just the mouse alone... it's really cool & feels just right, due to the positioning of the analog stick. BTW, you can configure BOTH AXIS on the analog stick as well as the forward/back tilt axis and the left/right tilt axis.(Just so it's clear, I use the SpacePilot Pro(Left Hand [Thrusters, Targeting, Shields & Emergency Systems]) & Lexip 3DM(Right Hand [Throttle & Weapons]) for flight in space sims, as the sheer amount of control all at once is unparalleled, even when compared to HOTAS setups (I own an X-56 as well). The 'feel' is nearly identical, with the HOTAS setup just slightly ahead, but the 'ease of use' for the SPP/3DM setup is worlds apart from the HOTAS setups, which takes a little time to get used to.)In conclusion, I think the Lexip Pro is not the best for CAD work, as the 3d Connexion products beat it badly in the one area that you would use it for, and that's the 3d movement. The inability to use the axis all at once kills it for 3d movement.(For CAD and Modeling: 2.5 stars. With Pinnacle Profiler: 3.5 stars.)HOWEVER, due to how easy it is to configure and it's intuitive control nature with the analog, this is an absolutely ELITE mouse for driving & space sim style games.(For Racing & Flying/Space games: 4 stars. With Pinnacle Profiler: 5+ stars [add in Voice Attack: 11 stars, lol]).

Very Interesting
Like the other review I purchased this for something other than CAD design; I too wanted a more versatile mouse for Star Citizen.Pros: Software is clean with many preloaded program specific profiles to choose from, many MANY choices available in several drop downs. Features are very cool, I'm not aware of another actual mouse that not only has high DPI, multiple programmable buttons, but also include six full axis for true 6DoF. Construction quality also seems good, but have no reference for longevity as yet.Cons: These are primarily from a gamer's perspective. The unit comes with essentially zero documentation, there doesn't even seem to be a "help" tab/button anywhere. The left/right buttons are very short compared to many other mice (I believe this is to provide a place to put your finger tips when using the fore/aft tilt). I continue to have difficulty getting the various controls working the way I want in SC, it is all boiling down to trial and error due to (1) the mouse is intended for CAD not gaming, (2) no real explanation of what the many selections mean or do, and (3) SC controls aren't exactly 100% ready for prime-time yet.Bottom line - I'm only knocking off a star for the lack of documentation as I think that applies to every user no matter what their intended purpose. If you're willing to do some serious experimenting, definitely pick one up; I am sufficiently impressed with the hardware and software options and have no doubts that I'll be able to get this going just the way I'd hoped. If nothing else there's always the .XML approach.

I did not use it for what it was designed for, but, it works well as a specific type of gaming mouse
Big warning: I never intended to use this mouse for CAD, 3-d design or anything like that. My intention was to use it as a part of a control scheme for the game Star Citizen. That said it exceeded my expectations in that regard.I would recommend this to any space sim player who wants to use a HOJAM (hands on joystick and mouse) controller scheme. I would also recommend this to any one handed gamers out there who are looking for a mouse they can use to play games with.Pros: total of 4 analog axis (2 on analog stick on the side and 2 used by tilting the mouse), can program all mouse buttons (7 total including left, right and middle click)Cons: right handed only (not an issue for me but lefties be warned), probably not very good for people with smaller hands (again not an issue for me)For anyone curious about my Star Citizen set up I am using a left handed joystick to control the orientation of the ship while using the mouse's analog stick and tilt axis to strafe. This still allows me to use my mouse to aim.

Great for games.
It's an awesome freakin mouse. Great for mapping controls in games. I just wish i want afraid of the driver losing support in the future. I think th company is dead. Their website is down.

Three Stars
uses accelerometer and rubber grommet/post to detect 3d position, not the most accurate, unfortunately.

Interesting, but not very ergonomic
This mouse is an interesting idea, but using it cramps your hand after a while. Also, the french company that makes it is not responsive to inquiries about settings, driver updates, etc. It DOES NOT work for Pro/ENGINEER / Creo.

mouse discontinued
This mouse don't have any kind of support. This CAN NOT be used in the new version of software. Simply it is discontinued.
