Saves our old pipes
Perfect. Gets the job done and strains out all the small food and grub to keep it from going down the drain into my old pipes! We don't have a garbage disposal (probably a blessing because I hear they can be problematic over the years) so we really need to be mindful of anything we flush down the drains at my home since it's old and the pipes can clog easily (we have to snake our main drain every year). I keep them in both sides of my kitchen sinks and empty all the grub in the garbage every single day by slamming it on the side of the garbage can. It works and is simple to clean! Just throw in the dishwasher when it gets yucky.

Beautiful Efficient Design
This sink strainer has a metal mesh with very small holes allowing water to flow through quickly. What I really appreciate is how it prevents anything but liquid to go down the drain. I live in an older building built during the 1940's where our four units share the pipes. We all have to be extremely careful to avoid blockages. Now, washing my hands after brushing two cats, I always find a tiny amount of cat hair left in the strainer. I never realized until now that this had been going down the drain. I highly recommend this strainer. (Just an FYI, you can't completely stop water flow with this strainer. You would need to use a plastic flat stopper.)

What sink disposer?
Low-cost, environmental competition for sink disposers! After decades of personal home maintenance (with plenty of "hands-on" inspection/replacement of under-the-sink/house plumbing), I finally stopped using an electric sink disposer for most discarded food - collecting this waste for a garbage can (line with used newspaper ;-) is not so difficult! Besides, replacing the rusted disposers once or twice a decade is expensive (even for the designated handyman at home).Use this sturdy, well-designed Culina Strainer all the time to collect the smaller pieces of discarded food;emptying frequently is recommended ... and not so difficult ;-).

Decent, but can be a bit hard to rinse clean
Fits well into the drain and items flow nicely over the flat lip and into the basket. Only issue for me is that the basket is made of holes in a sheet of stainless steel. The edges are sharp (not so sharp so you'd get cut on the edges or anything) and so the food can get caught on the holes more than I'd like. If the basket were made of a round wire material, that might be more easily rinsed clean.

Love that the holes are small enough to catch everything ...
Bought this to replace one of those complicated plug/strainer combos that never really seem to catch anything. Love that the holes are small enough to catch everything so I don't have to worry about the sink clogging (I don't have a garbage disposal). Fits well in the sink and has held up great for the last 6 months. It's also a lot cheaper than paying a plumber to unclog your sink!

I tried this out for several months before I bought the second one and it's really saved my plumbing
This is my second one. I tried the 1st one for about 2 months before I decided to buy the 2nd one for the other side of the sink. It catches all the bits of food and/or hair (if someone washes their hair in the sink) but it still lets water thru. I empty mine daily and you just need to tap it on the inside of the trashcan and all the food comes out. I plucked the hair out immediately, just in case, so it doesn't get stuck. It's not rusted in the months I've had it and the size is perfect.

Stays shiny
This is a nice looking strainer. It cleans easy. Watch out for the outside ring, if you grab it wrong or put pressure on the outside lip, OUCH. It actually drew blood. Once I knew, it's never happened again.

Worth it!
We liked the first strainer like this we bought so much, we purchased a second one for the other drain in our double sink. As has been said in other reviews, if you have a septic tank and are trying to keep it processing smoothly, this strainer catches just about everything. We've had them both a few months now and no instances of rust. We throw them in the dishwasher a few times a week and they are still very nice.

Does a good job.
Does a good job by straining fairly fine bits of tea and vegetable matter in sink.

Prima!
