The packaging is not Ok for a gift.
The projects look OK although the screws, etc. are very tiny. I bought it for a 6 year old but it looks too hard for him. The package was a plain brown box with the instruction booklet just laying on top of the individually packaged projects. It doesn't look like a very nice gift with no colorful packaging and I am not going to give it to him. I will save it for a later date but not for a Christmas gift!

It’s about the experience...not the product quality
In a word, MEH... it’s an ok building set if you and your child do it together, and you are good with instructions. aka common sense. The build and anticipation were more exciting, for my 7 year old son, than the use of the finished product. Very flimsy, poor design, and mediocre instructions. I fully expect this set to hit the back of the closet or the trash can when we finish all three builds.Big picture You could waste the money on a lot worse. I say it instills the process of starting and finishing a task, following directions both print and pictures, and motor skills/dexterity. Up to you?

Kids had difficulty
Kids were excited for this kit. Most of the pieces are way too small for any hands and littles could not understand instructions or place the parts easily. Tiny little washers the size of a small small small bead. If you are good with models and have experience this kit would be great not the best for kids.

Boys' Stocking Stuffer type gift
We decided to make this a "Stem" Christmas...toys related to Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics...and this was a hit with our 7 & 4 year old grandsons. It was 1 of 5 related toys they received....and it was a popular idea.

Tracks need a guide wheel and wider gear
The rubber tracks do not line up properly. The gear used for tracks is to narrow.Probably needs a guide wheel. It does work once you messed with the tracks, then it works great.

Great Prize
My 11yr old son loved this and made his OWN creations that he came up with. Good fun.

Fun project. Very tedious work with small parts
Harder and way more tedious to assemble than I thought. Takes a lot of concentration. Very small screws and peices. Depending on age, child may need a lot of help and supervision
