I am making a pirates treasure chest for my nephew for Christmas, and these are the perfect jewels. Too large to swallow (although he doesn't put stuff in his mouth anyway), bright, multiple colors, I love them and he will too. I noticed in some of the reviews that some people weren't happy with the distribution of colors, mine was great. I got seven different colors, with at least three of each color, more purple than anything else, but still a good distribution. They seem to be sturdy enough to stand up to a four year old burying them and digging them up again, and hiding them in his ships hull.

I purchased these for my son's 8th birthday party. His theme this year will be Sonic the Hedgehog. We will be putting these into his goodie bags to give out to everyone. These gems are a good size! Colorful and perfect for what I intended them for. I showed them to my son when they arrived and he loved them. He said they are the Sonic "Chaos Emeralds" Perfect! His birthday party is in 2 weeks and I'm happy we found these. Thank you!

We purchased these along with a tiny treasure chest as a rewards system for our Autistic 9 year old. Each time our daughter does something that's asked of her (her homework, taking her medication, going to bed on time), she gets a gem. Once she gets 20 gems, she gets something special of her choosing. If she's misbehaving, she loses one. This method has worked amazingly and she loves these gems so much because they remind her of chaos emeralds (she's a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan and even lets her Sonic help her put her gem in her treasure chest).They come in a variety of colors, although I wish they were lighter like the listing photos shows, but my daughter isn't picky. Will definitely be purchasing another bag to use this rewards system with our 3 year old!

Whether you will like these or not depends upon your purpose. If you are buying them for children, go for it! They can have fun with them, and there are no worries. They do have some shine to them, as far as plastics can go. It will not be the brilliant shine that you get from glass, and there are surface imperfections & scratches. There is a good mix of color (at least, in my bag)!Obviously, glass ones are the way to go if you appreciate beautiful things to look at. For children, though, I don't think so. Glass may break, which of course has risks. Glass diamond gems are also heavier, and with the pointy end I hate to think of what would happen if a spat over the shiny glass ones leads to one getting thrown. Those could cause damage. These, being plastic, do not have the heft that is needed to put weight behind a throw.These are destined for a chlidren's sandbox, where I will hide them while they are away, for them to find later. I do not need to worry about rain, as there is no paint and they won't deteriorate. There are enough that I can spread out the treasure hunts a bit, too, and do this several times. It is likely that the sand will scratch them some more, and in a way it is helpful that they came with some scratches already so I don't feel bad about that. :) I'm wavering between 4 and 5 stars & wish I could go 4.5....

I used these for my fairy garden. The colors are wonderful, you would think they are glass. The biggest plus is the size. I was afraid they would be small but they are a great size. I have trouble with my grandson wanting to get them because they are jewels like Minecraft. Lol I waited before I wrote a review to see if they would hold up in the weather. They have been in storms and sun and haven’t changed at all. So these are great for gardens, kids and grandkids. Better than I expected.

These are OK plastic gems. They're not great but will suffice. They are very large, gem shaped, and came in a good variety of colors, 3-6 of about 7 or 8 different colors. I'm using the clear, green, blue, and red to replace the chips in the game Splendor and they'll suffice. Each one does have a rough spot from the mold, and the finish looks a little worn, but they should add to the fun of the game.

Treasure hunt at birthday party was a hit. It was like an Easter egg hunt with plastic gems. Hid them around the swingset. Kids like them because they are so big. They are a hearty acrylic type plastic. They don't refract light like a glass or crystal gem might, but they are clear and colorful and impressive to kids. They fill up the palm of a k/1 kid, about 1.5 inches across and a little less than an inch deep. The price was good.

I ordered this to go in a pirate chest I am giving my little grandson for Christmas. Every time we walk outside we have to search for "crystals" and I knew I had to get these for him. There is a nice amount in the package and he will love the bright colors. Perfect for his pirate chest!!
