Top build quality.
High build quality, excellent sound although not so much on the highs. Nevertheless very enjoyable.

Sound okay but rather uncomfortable.
Okay as a backup for my Sony noise cancelling phones. They sound okay but I find the earpads on the Sennheiser HD400S headphones to be inadequate for them to be worn for very long. The pads are thin and flimsy so my ears contact the headphones baffle. I also find that they actually become painful to wear after a while, especially as I need to wear spectacles for VDU work.On the other hand they were cheap, so I guess one gets what one pays for. With the latter point in mind, I will give them 4 stars instead of the 3 that was my first thought.Edit: I forgot to mention when I originally posted this review that, when playing games like 'Sniper Elite' on my Playstation, my Sennheiser HD 400S headphones actually reverse the left and right sound channels. A tad confusing, so another reason not to used them for gaming. Okay for music, Spotify and such, I suppose but a bit confusing with games where one needs to be able to hear what’s lurking around the next turn, wall, or whatever. Hopefully this is just my pair of headphones and not a general flaw with this product.

Good budget headphones
Having recently retired, I now have the time to get back into some of my old FPS PC games. Having found my old headphones had almost dissintegrated through years of non use, I ordered these as a cheap replacement. Sennheisser obviously have a good name in the headphone world and I was not dissapointed. They are a little tight on my head (I don't have a particularly big head). Sound from music has to be tweaked a bit in the audio player but they sound great gaming.

Stopped Working After 3 Months, No Noise Cancellation, & No Repair/Refund
THE BAD - Delivered 13 Dec 24, stopped working April 14 2025. No evidence of noise cancellation.THE GOOD? - they were comfortable enough and sound pretty good. Base could be improved though.I won't be ordering again though, and the seller or amazon won't allow me to return for repair/replacement or refund?Only last 3 months.@ 45.99 you are better off with a much cheaper pair. I bought some from amazon for 24 pounds and the sound quality of a "cheap" pair, from a small company, far outweighs this over priced product which claims "noise cancellation." Yeah, right...

They are OKAY.
In terms of value for money, paying anymore for these I would've sent them back. They are easy to connect and they sound better they my arctis gaming headset previously. But they are extremely uncomfortable.I listen to metal and rock and it does the instrumentals well but vocals are quite lacking. They are quite light and portable of course but they are horrifically uncomfortable. The top headband has the thinnest padding I've seen so it digs into your skull. They do surround the ears nicely though and aren't as uncomfortable there.Overall a 3/5, you could likely get better even at the discounted price.

Leaving a bad impression on the Sennheiser brand for newcomers.
Before I start. I have purchased many high end products from Sennhesier from headphones to audio equipment and professional microphones. This product is a joke compared to the rest at the current price it is listed for, I'm comparing these to my Sennheiser Momentum 4s which retail for £300.First of all, the design is awful. The materials are cheap and squeaky and the ear cups are stiff and tiny. The momentum 4 has a more bespoke material which feels soft on your ears and doesn't put asmuch pressure as the HD400s which allows for longer listening times before it hurts. It also has a head padding on the top which the 400s don't. The plastic is easy to scratch and feel like those £20 turtle beach headsets you buy for your kid. The logo is really badly printed on unlike the Momentum 4 with its 3d textured logo and minimalist look. The folding is alright but will probably get loose overtime however its more compact than the Momentum 4s. The case is funny though, the Momentum 4 has all the accessories you need and a hard case yet the HD400s is a cheap flimsy bag. Not ergonomical. The headphones look stupid when extended for bigger heads as you can obviously see that on the HD400s but the Momentum 4s have took that into account and designed the headphones to slide without making it obviously you have extended them.Audio quality no using HIFI audio file formats and a EQ setup. The HD400s are quiet and sound Hollow like the cheap plastic. No clear definition in bass and tremble but they work. They are not god awful but not going to give you an eargasm. On the other hand the Momentum 4 has strong bass good tremble and is on another level when you hear the difference. It actually uses the HIFI audio for its potentials. The design of the box it came in meets with the signiture sennheiser design but the unlike their other products. The inside of the HD400s was just cheap plastic unlike all their other products that use recycled materials and lay it out that it feels like a luxury product.Overall all the other 5 star reviews are a joke, they have never felt good quality sennhesier products and think that these are decent. You are wrong. I'm sorry on behalf of the real consumers who now have newcomers with a bad impression of the brand.
