Neat System but with some flaws in utility
I am reviewing the combination of the Thisties DuoWrap with the Thirsties Stay Dry Natural Duo All-in-Two Insert. I give these diapers a solid average. FYI: I have only used these while exclusively breastfeeding so far.First off, there are a variety of types of diapers and for the wrap and cover system in general (not just this brand), the pros are that they can be a little easier on the go (packing mostly liners) and there is potential to save money (though this was not my experience necessarily). The cons are that it can be a little challenging to actually use them for 3-4 diaper changes. I found a number of times when I would naturally want to fully change the diaper, like after a bath or times when we switch to a disposable (bedtime, etc.) (we cloth diaper about 70% of the time), as well as when they get dirty. For the Thirstie’s specifically…Pros• They are made with some quality materials like hemp• I appreciate the two-size system. One size can be bulky on little babies and it’s nice this company offers a different option• The company appears to have good labor practices employing moms in ColoradoCons• The insert does not fit super securely in the cover. It appears effort went into this diaper’s design but having a snap in for the insert would have made it better• I did experience leaks. (Some leaks are inevitable with most diapers, but I experienced a bit more than average.) I have not had the best luck with double gussets for whatever reason. Also the lack of insert snap in is probably part of the issue.• The Velcro on the hook and loop is a bar across the hips that is easy to ride up and rub against the baby’s tummy, and seems a little scratchy.• The shell+inserts are a bit pricey• I could almost never get 3-4 diaper changes with these. I would say 1-2 or maybe 3 is more accurate. In the end, I ended up using my Grovia inserts in these covers. Those inserts are a little sturdier and made up for some of the issues. I can use the Thirstie’s inserts in the Grovia shell which make them a little less bulky. Not a 100% perfect fit but it’s working for me and allowing me to get use out of all the products.

Works for "Gallons".
I absolutely love the Thirsties Stay-Dry Duo Insert, White, Size Two. We call our little girl "Gallons" as a nickname (lol only as an inside joke with my husband). She would go through three disposables at night and still be leaking by the morning. With these I double up at night the duo inserts with a duo size 2 and a duo size 1 on top inside the Thirsties cover. She never leaks! Totally dry in the morning and they hold so much liquid it is crazy. She is potty trained during the day, but I am sure changing every 2-3 hours the single duo insert would be fine and leakproof for daily use. The micro fleece cover keeps her dry while the hemp liners hold most of the liquid. The hemp liner hold SO much liquid they can take a while to dry. I run them through one dry cycle and they may be a little damp, but after I hang them overnight they are dry by morning. Washing them is easy, I use the sanitize cycle on my washer and with prewash selected they are totally clean after one run. I don't even unsnap them when washing or drying. I followed the prep instructions well form another reviewer and washed and dried between each initial prep wash. They have all worked like a charm and are so much better than any of the other brand inserts or refolds I own. I can't wait to start using these with my next baby due in January. I will never go back to disposables.

Hemp Shrinkage is significantly more than the cotton layer.
Hemp shrinks MUCH more than the cotton layer. I just pull tightly once I snap the buttons to smooth out the curled edges. Ultimately the purpose is absorbency and it serves its purpose very well. not quite enough for 12 hour night but I would say 6 hours with no other boosters. at least for my 4.5 month old baby boy.

Spare me some precious time to sleep
Absorbs well. My girl, a newborn, is not a heavy wetter so this last her a couple of hours. You might think a couple of hours is nothing but it matters lots to a mother. Only mothers would understand... hence why i appreciate this product. Not ez to get stains off. I never did but i am absolutely fine with it so long as i know it is clean.

Trim and absorbent!!
Since we have grown out of our Imagine and Nickis newborn diapers these are the next best thing for his slim tall frame. No leaks, diapers still pretty trim, they keep him pretty dry, and no redness like when using some prefolds or flats witout stay dry. Wish we had more. Might have to order a few.

Love the product, hate the price!
These are expensive. I love that I have them but this was my first purchase when I became a cloth diapering mama and knowing what I know now I wouldn't have bought them. We use prefolds(osocozy) and they are so cheap and easy and work just fine that price for these seem like highway robbery. I like using the ones I have for outings because they have better absorbency then our prefolds and also don't seem to bunch up as much as the prefolds. Also my hubby loves these and always grabs them first before prefolds or flats but he agrees that prefolds do the job just fine and these are a bit of a luxury purchase.

These are great. The Hemp holds a lot
These are great. The Hemp holds a lot, and the top layer is soft against my baby's skin. We had been using prefolds in the Thirsties covers, but he screams each time he wets as he hates the wet feeling. Somedays I was changing my 2 month old every 20 mins! These allow him to nap without waking up, which is a HUGE plus! The wash up well, no staining so far with my newborn EBF poo. The hemp does take longer to dry, but hey, it holds a lot of water, so what do you expect?
